Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler’s cricket education continues with a three-week one-day cricket clinic in India.
Buttler, 21, heads to the sub-continent on Monday as part of the England Performance Programme. The three-week tour to Pune and Mumbai will take in four 50-over fixtures against local opposition, plus intensive schooling in how to play spin.
Buttler, already aching after the return to pre-season training this week, aims to build on the encouraging start to his international career that has seen him play four times for the England T20 side.
“It’s very exciting time to be involved with the England set-up. We are the no.1 Test side as well as T20 world champions. Looking forward to returning to India after playing with Somerset in the Champions League. Batting is always a challenge on the wickets down there so the experience will stand me in good stead.”
Buttler is also hoping to be included in the England Lions squad that travels to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the New Year.
